“‘Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss it, you will land among the stars.’”
I’m Lucy and I am the face behind Lucy Rae Photography. After a short 18 month career break to look after my son, I am back with a fresh look and a fresh space! I have focused on children’s and family portraits for over 13 years, photographing over 600 families, from TV personalities to footballers, I have built up my reputation in the industry as a sought after photographer.
All of my sessions take place from my cosy home studio, whether you are bringing your first born baby for a newborn, sitter, cake smash session or your whole tribe. You will feel comfortable enough to put your feet up on the sofa, sit back and watch the magic happen. Every client is important so I aim to deliver an enjoyable experience, with memories you can cherish for a lifetime. There is nothing more important than displaying your images on the walls of your home. You get to fall in love with them over and over again.
Getting to meet different people at every session and to capture their little ones lives through the lens is such a rewarding job to have, which makes me feel blessed every day. It has been amazing to meet some incredible people with their own unique stories along the way and I hope to continue my work for many more years to come.
I have been trained by some of the best international photographers, so you are in safe hands. I am extremely lucky that I have clients return to me time and time again, and that I come recommended by so many. I love to create a real calming and relaxed environment that even many parents find it hard to stay awake!
What makes me different?
I have a keen interest in holistic health which I am very passionate about, and am always open to discussing this with parents, with a ton of information to share on the best non toxic and low toxic products for you and your family. This way of living also is shown through my work, to the products I use in the studio, and fabrics that I will use for your babies. Everything is thought through with intention and love.
I believe photographing children should allow them to be themselves without restrictions, a child who feels forced and pressured to sit and smile, you will find you won’t often get the best from your session and time. I have a new space that allows children more room to roam, to explore some toys that will be in the images, and show different sides of their personality and character as they settle into a new environment. I have lots of experience with children with SEN, we are a family who is a big part of the SEN community as our eldest has Down Syndrome, so in my space, everyone is welcome! If you have any hesitations or questions on this and are interested in having your child photographed we can always chat over the phone in depth to make it a more pleasant experience.
Newborn sessions will be relaxed and about connection between mother and baby, with dad of course and siblings if there are any! An incredibly special time that can feel very fragile, I would love to capture a relaxed approach for you and your family. These types of sessions can be any time from 1-8 weeks post birth, it is whenever you feel comfortable and ready to capture the moment!
I am a mother of two small children, to Polly who is 6 years old and Sonny who is 18 months. Motherhood certainly didn’t start on an easy foot for me, quite frankly it swiped me from under my feet with full force! Our eldest, Polly has Down Syndrome which when she was born came with a heart condition which required surgery. With all the families that have come my way and shared their stories, now I have my own to tell. You can read more about my journey into motherhood on my blog if you are interested.
